CHAIRING A SESSION

Preparing for your session

Please review the abstracts of the speakers prior to your assigned sessions. Familiarise yourself with the conference program, the speakers' names, presentation titles, and their affiliations in advance. 

During your session

 

​Introduce each speaker with their name, affiliation, and presentation title.

Ensure that presentations adhere to the time, each presenter is allocated a total of 20 minutes. 15 minutes for presentation, and an additional 5 minutes for Q&A. There will be a timekeeper assigned to each venue, who will raise a printed sign alerting presenters of the remaining time at 3 minutes and 1 minute. At the 15 minute mark, you may tap the provided call bell to signal the presenter to end as soon as possible.

 

The subsequent 5 minutes of Q&A should be moderated by you. Invite questions from the audience after each presentation and acknowledge individuals who raise their hands or show signs of wanting to ask a question. A staff will ensure that the microphone will reach them. Presentations may end earlier or later, please adjust the timing for Q&A accordingly to keep within 20 minutes. 

An additional 5 minutes is assigned to each presentation slot to accomodate loading of presentation slides, and movement between concurrent sessions. 

If you need any assistance, please approach the staff, identifiable by a light blue lanyard, who will be at your session.
